A fost primul absolvent rom\u00e2n al liceului german din Sighi\u0219oara. El este cel care traduce faimosul Memorandum adresat \u00eemp\u0103ratului Franz Josef al Austriei \u00een 1892, iar fiul lui Zaharia Boiu, Olimpiu, este cel care va duce traducerea german\u0103 a memorandumului, clandestin, la Viena.<\/p>\n<p>Studiaz\u0103 la seminarul teologic ortodox din Sibiu, apoi, sus\u021binut de mitropolitul Andrei \u0218aguna, merge la Leipzig la studii. Dup\u0103 \u00eentoarcerea \u00een \u021bar\u0103 va lucra mai \u00eent\u00e2i ca profesor la Institutul diocezan, iar mai apoi ca redactor la publica\u021biile Telegraful rom\u00e2n \u0219i la Transilvania. Tot la Sibiu particip\u0103 activ la \u00eenfiin\u021barea ASTREI. Zaharia Boiu a fost cel care \u00een 1861 a \u00eenfiin\u021bat prima \u0219coal\u0103 rom\u00e2n\u0103 la Sighi\u0219oara, unde a predat \u00eempreun\u0103 cu \u00eenv\u0103\u021b\u0103torii Ioan \u021ai\u021bei \u0219i Nicoale Damian. A fost \u00eenmorm\u00e2ntat \u00een cimitirul Bisericii din Groap\u0103 din Sibiu, morm\u00e2ntul s\u0103u fiind \u00eenscris \u00een Lista monumentelor istorice din jude\u021bul Sibiu din anul 2015
